The Governors would like parents and carers to have a better picture of what they do. After each meeting, they will update their blog here. Check back regularly to see what they have been discussing!

19th September 2016

Finance committee held their first meeting of the year and Richard Paton Devine was voted chair again. The main agenda item was the setting of the new budget because as an academy we now run our budget from September to September.
We also discussed the new developments that are planned for school - the MUGA (Multi Use Games Area), the KS1 playground and a new sensory garden. Exciting times!

School Improvement and Standards Committee - 14th September

It was great to have our first committee meeting of the year and I am pleased to introduce myself as chair of the committee - Shazia Abbas.
Today we looked at our terms of reference and made a plan of all the areas that we would look at throughout the year with standards being a high priority.

Pilot Partnership Arts Festival

18th July
Today, as Chair of Governors, I was invited to attend The Pilot Partnership Arts Festival at The Rep Theatre, Birmingham. It was awesome! The children sang beautifully and I was very proud of our children. It was a pleasure to watch.
Well done Year 5; you were a credit to The Oval.

Strategic Development Committee - school's visions and values

4th July 2016

Strategic Development Committee met to discuss the school's visions and values and the best way that we can further seek the views of children, parents, teachers and the local community. We also discussed the strategic plan for 2016/17 and proposed that the following areas should be priority for the next academic year: Teaching and Learning - English and Maths, Development of a New Curriculum, Wellbeing, Partnerships with others and Site Development. We agreed that we would discuss with all Governors how we will monitor these priorities throughout the year.
As chair of this committee, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the teachers and support staff of The Oval School for all their efforts over the last year in making it a happy successful and inspiring place for all of the children.
